LAUNCH OF DEFENCE STRATEGY UPDATE AND FORCE STRUCTURE PLAN

The 2020 Defence Strategic Update and 2020 Force Structure Plan, released on 1 July 2020, outline a new strategy for Defence and the capability investments to deliver it.

The Strategic Update sets out the challenges in Australia’s strategic environment and their implications for Defence planning. It provides a new strategic policy framework to ensure Australia is able – and is understood as willing – to deploy military power to shape our environment, deter actions against our interests and, when required, respond with military force.

AIDN is very supportive of the government’s significant announcement today. We look forward to working closely with the government, Defence and the Primes to ensure that Australian industry has a significant role to play in this important national endeavour.

ROTORTECH DATE CHANGE

As the organiser of the ROTORTECH Helicopter and Unmanned Flight Exposition, AMDA Foundation Limited has continuously monitored the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on Australian domestic and international travel, in order to assess whether, on its current dates from 14 to 16 October 2020, ROTORTECH will remain readily accessible to exhibitors, participants and stakeholders from Australia and around the world.

Unfortunately, the recent course of COVID-related travel constraints has suggested that the prospect of internal domestic border closures and the continuation of international travel restrictions may adversely affect ease of travel to Brisbane in October. The ongoing implications of the pandemic over the next few months remain unpredictable and we are unable to be reasonably confident that travel constraints will not continue to apply.

To avoid any continuing uncertainty for exhibitors, participants and industry, we have therefore decided to defer ROTORTECH until mid-next year, by which time the prospect of border restrictions and travel constraints should, hopefully, have passed.

The new dates for ROTORTECH will be Tuesday 15 June to Thursday 17 June 2021. The venue, the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane, is unchanged.
